More Than Just Developments

Casting for a Cause: From Heartbreak to Hope

At DJL Project Management, we’ve always believed in building more than just developments. That belief took a new meaning in 2017 when our Director, David’s brother, Andrew experienced the devastating loss of their newborn baby due to complications shortly after birth.

In the months that followed, amidst unimaginable grief, Andrew found solace and purpose in the idea that they weren’t alone. Families were facing their own tragedies and struggle in hospitals every single day. While grieving, Andrew became determined to make a difference to those families and medical staff who care for them.

That determination became Casting for a Cause.

Casting for a Cause was Co-founded by Andrew, David (DJL Director), and Justin (Andrews best mate). The idea was born whilst out fishing one day, where together they envisioned a way to combine a beloved hobby with a meaningful purpose: raising awareness and funds for the hospital that had given them so much care and compassion.

The Journey So Far

In November 2023, a small but passionate group came together for the first event, The Conjola Classic. This inaugural event led to the first official donation to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Since then, Casting for a Cause has hosted:

  • Two successful Conjola Classic events.

  • One Eucumbene Trout Challenge

  • A Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

There have been numerous great donations and sponsorships from various local businesses including a donation from The Oaks Fishing Club which has helped us raise a staggering $53,577.00 to date.

What’s Next?

Casting for a Cause is just getting started. The next event will be the second Eucumbene Trout Challenge and this will be held on Friday 17.10.2025 and Saturday 18.10.2025. If you would like to get involved by participating in the challenge, providing donations or sponsorships, or help promoting the event, get in contact with David - david@djlpm.com.au.

Thank you again to everyone that has participated with Casting for a Cause to date. Let’s keep casting lines for the children and medical staff who need us the most.
